How Much Fun Can You Have With A Hannah Montana Wig?

S0, as I mentioned earlier, my niece Britley celebrated her fourth birthday today. One of the presents she received was a Hannah Montana wig from her grandmother. Some of us had a really good time playing with it! You know what they say... Blondes have more fun!

Happy Birthday Britley!

Today is our precious niece Britley's fourth birthday. It seems like yesterday that Trumon and I made a mad dash from Tyler to Dallas to hold her just after she was born. I think the memory is so vivid to me because I was very pregnant with Walker at the time, and knew the next newborn I held would be my own. Britley is a beautiful, bright little girl, with a sweet and pleasing heart. We love the time that we spend with her. Walker often calls her his "friend", rather than his cousin - I think that is telling of how he feels about her. Last week we were delighted to have her spend her the day with us, and though it wasn't the sleepover we planned on, we still had a great time. Here are a few pics of our day (and part of the evening) together.

Happy Birthday Britley, you are a blessing to us all!

Lauren's Six Month Checkup

Its hard to believe, but Lauren is now six months old. She had a great well check appointment with her doctor on Friday, showing off all of her latest tricks, and charming everyone with her amazing disposition. Her pediatrician was very impressed with her progress and proclaimed that she was "absolutely perfect" - I am very well aware of this fact, but it is nice to hear it from an authority! Here are her stats from the visit....

Height - 251/4 inches (25th percentile)

Weight - 17 pounds (75th percentile)

Her doctor isn't concerned right now with the fact the she is more round than long - she reassured me that this is something that will level out now, as she becomes more mobile.

Lauren is now sitting unassisted, rolling, doing that funny pre crawling belly slither. I know that all out crawling will happen any day now, she is determined to do it.
I am now adding fruits and veggies in addition to nursing and cereal. The doctor also recommended giving her a sippy cup with water and an appropriate finger food to begin to introduce self feeding. I cannot believe she is getting big enough for all of this, why can't she just stay little?

Dadadadada

This past Saturday, our little Lauren began saying Dada. What a sweet sound that I finally caught on video this evening.

Welcome Summer!

No, I'm not referring to the season that is five or so months away. I'm referring to my future sister-in-law Summer, who is recently engaged to my middle brother, Zane. Summer has started a blog, which I am very excited to start following. Summer has really endeared herself to our family and friends with her beauty, wit, and especially her love for Zane. I would also be remiss if I didn't mention that she is a great cook, and over Christmas impressed me with some pretty sweet dance moves! I knew that Summer was sister worthy though, when she introduced me to one of the funniest comedy sketches that I've ever seen. It is of a character from MadTV named Bon Qui Qui. I've watched it now probably a dozen times and I still laugh out loud each time. Check it out the next time you need a dose of funny...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZkdcYlOn5M

Epiphany

So today is Epiphany, also known as Three Kings Day, also known as the very last day to enjoy my beautiful Christmas decorations. Tomorrow, I will begin the depressive task of packing away my ornaments, trees and stockings - I am very sad about this. Growing up, I had a piano teacher who left her tree up year round - I used to think this was beyond strange, I now think it might be kind of fun. She would change out the theme of the tree based on the season - hearts in February, bunnies for spring, little flags for July. I guess I won't start such an interesting decorating trend, though I'm sure it would give my friends and neighbors plenty to talk about. So with the Christmas season officially over, I wanted to post a picture of one of my favorite things about the holidays. On one of the beautiful rural roads that goes to our subdivision, there is a lone pecan tree in a pasture that is illuminated with probably thousands of beautiful clear blue lites. Trumon found the tree one evening last year while on his way home from work. From that day on, we drove out to look at what our little son named "Walker's tree". As soon as it was lit this year, we made as many trips as possible by the tree. The picture that I took really doesn't do it justice, it truly looks magical in person.

Christmas 2008

So here are a few pictures of our Christmas. Sorry for taking so long to get them posted, I left my camera at my in law's house on Christmas, and just picked it up Thursday. We had an incredible Christmas, full of family and fun. This is the first year that Walker really "got" Christmas. From knowing that we were celebrating the birth of our Savior, to watching for Rudolph on Christmas Eve, he was completely into the season. Walker was also a big help to Lauren, who was experiencing her first Christmas. Happy New Year to everyone!
